Ex-Steelers RB James Conner has signed a 1-year deal to join the Cardinals backfield. With the free-agency loss of Kenyan Drake the Cards had a vacancy to be filled, and Conner represents a good experienced pair of hands to pair with Chase Edmonds.
The Cardinals have shown a tendency to add experience to the roster this off-season to add to a younger core with the likes of JJ Watt and AJ Green coming on board. James Conner now brings that same level of experience to the backfield.
JAMES CONNER IS A SOLID DUAL THREAT BACK
Originally joining the Steelers as the backup to LeVeon Bell, Conner got his big break in 2018 when Bell held out. Rushing for 973 yards at 4.5 per carry and 12 touchdowns, James Conner showed he had the potential to be a feature back.
Injuries have affected him a little over the last couple of seasons, but when healthy he is a solid dependable back and likely a lot cheaper than it would have been to keep Kenyan Drake. Conner has missed 9 games the last two seasons and sharing the load with Edmonds will likely be a boon for both him and the Cardinals.
He is a dynamic receiving threat, catching 124 passes for 963 yards over the last three seasons at 7.8 yards per reception.
